Terms of Use

Last updated: 24 July 2026

1. About the service

Torah App is an educational app in Telegram (Mini App) and related bot by David Herz: short sourced materials (wisdom of the day), quizzes, the weekly Torah portion (parasha), the Shabbat Runner mini-game, gamification (Sparks, streaks, quests), and optional newsletters.

The service is not a product of Telegram Messenger Inc. Your use of the Telegram platform is governed by Telegram’s terms.

2. Educational nature (important)

Torah App content is educational and introductory. It is not rabbinic counsel, not a halakhic ruling, not pastoral or psychological care, and not a replacement for community, a teacher, a synagogue, or formal study.

Some wording is composed with AI from a curated base of classical sources. Even with citations, simplifications, inaccuracies, or contested interpretations may occur. Do not make decisions about halakha, ritual, or personal practice based only on the app.

3. Account and access

You need a Telegram account to use the app. Torah App has no separate password registration. You are responsible for your Telegram account security and for actions taken through it in the service.

We may limit or terminate access for breaches of these Terms, abuse, security threats, or as required by law / Telegram’s rules.

4. Free access and support

Core learning features are free. Optional project support via Telegram Stars is not required for core learning access. Stars payments are processed by Telegram and subject to Telegram’s payment rules.

5. Newsletters and notifications

You can enable and disable newsletter categories in your profile. Some formats (e.g. Daf Yomi) may be temporarily paused. Service announcements may still arrive if the related setting is on.

6. Acceptable use

You must not:

7. Intellectual property

The interface, design, code, curated selections, service wording, and Torah App branding belong to the operator or are used under license. Classical Jewish texts and traditional citations are not “owned” by the app as such; the presentation, translations, and explanations in the service are protected as our arrangement.

You receive a personal, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the service for personal, non-commercial learning.

8. Third-party services

The service depends on Telegram and other providers (hosting, database, AI). Their outages, rule changes, or unavailability may affect Torah App. We do not control the Telegram platform as a whole.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not warrant uninterrupted operation, freedom from errors, or completeness or fitness of content for a particular purpose. To the extent allowed by law, implied warranties are disclaimed.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages, lost profits, or data loss arising from use of or inability to use the service. Aggregate liability for claims related to the service is limited to the greater of: (a) zero, if you paid us nothing directly for access, or (b) the amount of your voluntary Stars support actually received by us in the prior 12 months (if applicable).

Nothing in these Terms limits consumer rights that cannot be waived under the law of your country.

11. Termination

You may stop using the service at any time (stop opening the Mini App / unsubscribe / request data deletion). We may suspend the service or your access for security, operations, or Terms violations.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The current date appears at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated through the service or channel where practical. Continued use after a new version is posted means acceptance, unless law requires otherwise.
